wish you guys were in the US, cuz I prefer playing support and would gladly support y'all. unfortunately supporting in solo queue is just asking for losses...
many times i thought our team were pushing when in fact they were running away (not sure why, we were 5 vs 3 for most the game), meaning i died more than i should have
i feel in that game my team waiting for me to die before actually casting shit, OD barely used his ult throughout the midgame, even with the opportunity to kill 2 people
another thing is that heart's regen will allow you to have armlet on permanently, which basically removes it's main downside.
your decision for heart in that game probably didn't matter since you most likely already had the game after blink + pipe, but if another game you're playing as centaur was closer, you might want to opt for something else especially against timbersaw, plus you've already got good HP regen with tranqs + pipe.
If the game had have been closer (I'd finished the heart as we were killing the T4's so it didn't really have much impact) I would have probably gone for bkb, because Mirana and slark were pretty much non-factors for damage so a shivas wouldn't have been as effective
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/822142144 i've been playing more of pushing heroes lately, and it seems this works well in the 2K bracket, as teams, regardless of lineup, like to take big 5 vs 5 fights, usually at mid, presenting an easy opportunity to push either a t1 or even a t2
another observation i've made is that a team that falls behind usually stays behind, as they never get enough momentum to push down towers to get back gold and work your way back, and pushing heroes (brood, lycan et al) are good ways of either expanding a lead you have, or shortening a disadvantage
I was 3.2k Solo MMR when calibrated, then dumped down to 2.4K mmr due to playing sole support.
Fluctuated between 2.4k to 2.8k but never could pull out for a long time.
Finally just spamming TB using the guides from MATRICE on here on jungling TB, I watched several of his games, practiced in bot matches and have gotten finally back to the 3.2k mmr area this week while traveling. (Last day before I go home finally after 3 weeks!) I can have the versitility of building TB as a teamfighter or just RAT. If I see we are behind 8-15 deaths in 10 minutes then I'm going to RAT.... this character allows you to win games even being behind like 30 kills at the end of the game. Just dont get caught! It's a must see/do build if you get good at microing illusions and having great map awareness then its easy.
Either way what I'll say about the 2.4k mmr to 3.2k mmr area is after supporting solely after 2 years is:
1. You can tell in the first 5 to 10 minutes if you're going to win or lose after laning phase.
2. Carries do not more than often know how to do the basics like "LAST HIT" or "BUILD GOOD ITEMS"
3. Supports 80% of the time do not buy wards the first out of the gate laning phase. Period. Let alone know where to ward depending on where the fights are happening like "ARE THEY IN MY JUNGLE A LOT?" "CAN I PUT A WARD IN THEIR JUNGLE OR AN AGGRO WARD IF WE ARE PUSHING?" I did when I supported but....
4. Supports 90% of the time do not know when to pull creeps, how to pull creeps in laning phase. Supports do not know how to stack. I did but... either way whatever.
So man its a tough gig getting out and being a support is all I'm saying because most of the time you gotta rely on some douche to carry your game, you're the only support and you have the hardest job of all which is ward/ward well/pull stack camps, deny creeps de-ward, buy mek/mana boots and most of all let the other 4 guys not die often. Fucking hardest job ever. I'm really interested to see if this "ELO HELL" gets better after 3k since I'm sure at this rate i'll be out in a few weeks to a month depending on my work schedule and travel schedule.
Good luck my man I feel the pain but above all... its just a fucking number. Don't get too caught up with it and have fun. I would say 80% take this shit way too seriously so if they are just mute them and keep playing man. Pretend they're bots, and they are not very good bots at that.
im not sure whether its thew valve servers or me having a storm where i live, but my connection in games is god awful tonight, so im giving up before i dip below 2.5K
whenever im at the main menu, dota is like "oh you have 80ms ping to EU west", in game that goes up to 3k :/
not a single win tonight = not a happy dota player :(
tbh only my clockwerk game was anywhere near being a fair game, the phoenix game i spent more time disconnected than connect, and bloodseeker's game was just a fucking stomp
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/826430668 wasnt particularly proud of how i played, but i think this game would be easier if our lanes were different, me and kotl bot while bloodseeker and WR went top
honestly, for the first 30 minutes or so the bloodseeker was a fucking joke, thank god he managed to redeem himself somehwat lategame
kotl really helped us win in the end, did his job well
i started off fantastic in the early game (think i was 12-3-5 at one point) but once PA got BKB life became a lot harder for me, and the lag i was complaining about last night cost me a few deaths too, but that sorted itself out and i died less in the lategame
I find a lot of the time, I might be the same skill as people on my team and whatever, but their mistakes are more noticeable like ^, whereas I might just not be all that efficient at farming and stuff that is harder to notice without just watching someone the whole game
KoE suck it up, i once was paired in ranked with a 1k player that was 50% of the time afk and that builded SnY as first item on void.
For me yesterday's match was ok, so to speak mainly cause both of the teams were equally retarded. I mean cmon i misclicked tp instead of veil in a fight(so i was absent the whole time) and my team still won the fight. And fun fact the radiant actually started with a nice advantage.
so my eyeshight is worse than ever because instead of stop, i readed shop. Didn't make any sense of it. But then again pubs are random, so my team winning that fight without my mek, veil and ult combo was pretty unexpected.
Having returned from a friends camping holiday, and my A level results day on Thursday (which decides if I get into Uni or not) I shall be resuming my journey by playing dota until my eyes bleed
both of these games could have easily been won, and i dont want to blame my teammates as some of them were good in these games (skywrath in the first one, mirana, and zeus in the second) but there is always one idiot who thinks sven mid against TA is a fantastic idea and who proceeds to do nothing of use the whole game except hit towers and subsequently die
IMO you should stick to heroes you know how to play and that you're effective with. There's no point on learning new heroes in ranked mode if you want to go up in MMR and/or improve your gameplay.
You picked heroes that you've played less than 10 times on 6 of 9 losses. I'm sure that if you played those heroes a lot more before picking them in ranked, you could have won those matches easily.
To summarize: Try hard in ranked and pick heroes you know and you're comfortable with (your own hero pool). Play unranked to try new heroes and practice them until you're comfrotable enough with them to add them into your hero pool.
(To be fair I've climbed from 2.3k to 3.1k by randoming ROFL).
volvo is fucking punishing me for my 6 win streak earlier this month, i cannot win a single game where i dont play as the carry, i try to create the optimum scenario for my carries to be able to do shit yet they are completely and utterly worthless
Volvo is not punishing you for anything. You win six games in a row, you go up 150 mmr points, you get matches against people 150 mmr higher, you can't keep up, yo go down. This is what people call "forced 50% wr", which has nothing to do with matchmaking forcing anything.
If you lose a game and you want to keep trying, that's fine. If you lose two games in a row you better stop playing for a while because anger and frustration will force you to make more mistakes than you should, hence you WILL lose more games.
GAMES DOES NOT GET HARDER IF YOU GO UP 150 MMR in 3k bracket
Sorry, if they do is 2 % or 1% harder, if you lose 1 game every 3 you win is not cause the games are harder, is cause some retard has fun playing void and some other retard has fun playing doom, and both retards decide to be in the enemy team.
wish you guys were in the US, cuz I prefer playing support and would gladly support y'all. unfortunately supporting in solo queue is just asking for losses...
Good luck!
I am getting so close to 4k i can feel it u.u
http://dotabuff.com/matches/811412026 not a great performance really
many times i thought our team were pushing when in fact they were running away (not sure why, we were 5 vs 3 for most the game), meaning i died more than i should have

I dont care what people say
Do not buy satanic on CK
just dont
should've gone heart instead? was debating between the two but i thought i'd try something that'd sustain me a bit more
heart is cheaper and gives more str, in other words more damage to illu
noted for the future

Everytime you comment on something I will remember your 2k MMR.
High Skill
huehehehehehe
I was thinking the same Sampson
just lol
and 3,5k games so ...

On another note, I'm on a 7 win streak, let's see how long I can keep this up :D
another thing is that heart's regen will allow you to have armlet on permanently, which basically removes it's main downside.

http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/824555366 words fail me
pudge goes 0-4 in mid to LC IN 5 MINUTES
i third pick bloodseeker to go offlane because he does well against a lot of their matchup
4th pick = random pick ember spirit
5th pick zeus who proceeds to take as much CS from bot lane as possible
im not sure whether its thew valve servers or me having a storm where i live, but my connection in games is god awful tonight, so im giving up before i dip below 2.5K
whenever im at the main menu, dota is like "oh you have 80ms ping to EU west", in game that goes up to 3k :/
I calibrated at 2.6k and so far i've gotten myself to 3.2k which i'm happy with and am still trying to improve :) Good luck with the climb!
not a single win tonight = not a happy dota player :(
tbh only my clockwerk game was anywhere near being a fair game, the phoenix game i spent more time disconnected than connect, and bloodseeker's game was just a fucking stomp
stop playing ranked for the day if your emotions are negatively affecting your performance
i plan on doing that, that and i dont trust my internet to hold on its good performance for 40 minutes :/
yeah look at me i havent played ranked for a week now hahaha
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/826430668 wasnt particularly proud of how i played, but i think this game would be easier if our lanes were different, me and kotl bot while bloodseeker and WR went top

http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/826500462 vengeance must be had for this game
why do i get put with these people like slark and io
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/826561315 i hate to say it but every fucking game i end up with shitty teammates
yes i know im in 2K so im just as shit as them blah blah blah
last pick lycan, decides to build support items when he got it into his dumb ass mind that his pick was bad, waste of a hero slot in our team honestly
I find a lot of the time, I might be the same skill as people on my team and whatever, but their mistakes are more noticeable like ^, whereas I might just not be all that efficient at farming and stuff that is harder to notice without just watching someone the whole game

^ Did you cancel channelling tp?
yeah i was mashing the s key but idk why it didn't cancel. Gonna watch the replay to see what happened.
Nothing makes you feel more inferior than fucking up a TP, I know the feel
If a TP won't cancel it's probably because you have the setting to only cancel it if you press hold (H) I believe.
Speaking of fucking up a TP, I never misclick TPs but I cancel channelling unintentionally quite a few times.
^ you know you can change a setting so that only the stop command can cancel it
oh, it's stop, not hold.
if your tp still didn't cancel if u were pressing S idk why.
so my eyeshight is worse than ever because instead of stop, i readed shop. Didn't make any sense of it. But then again pubs are random, so my team winning that fight without my mek, veil and ult combo was pretty unexpected.
>Teleport requires Shop
Cancelling TP scroll now prevents you from purchasing items? :D

i will join your race as soon as i drop below 3k, (i think in 2 days maybe?).
