My nickname reflected my playstyle of 5 years ago, now it does not (in most of the cases, hopefully).
beaverknight

etc.
there are many great players with stupid name, and many stupid players with legit name since the ingame name is easy to change game to game
i read the link and can point out some other "bad names" : aui_2000, kpkpkp, UniVeRse, ppd, Aisaka Taiga, FATA and well, there are so many i cant count. i think it's irrelevant
about the article:
totally agreed with the point of capital letters (im not talking about myself though)
disagreed about clan tags
"-" and "." can be considered a plus for another reason. back in wc3 days, it was some sort of trend among old players to put "-" or "." in the end of their nicks. usually it meant that you are playing with someone experienced who's using his secondary acc, which is now commonly called "smurf" in the world of dota. And smurf players in wc3 were strong tryharders, unlike smurfs in dota2 which are often created to try new heroes/builds without affecting main acc's winrate/kda/etc. However, it was popular in classic wc3, not in custom MOBA maps like dota 1.
from my experience, people using clan tags or anything in are usually retarded and they're the most toxic trash in my pubs
from my experience everything above is bullshit, the only thing that stands out is people underperforming with names such as:
"[player's name] MUTED"
"GIVE MID F*CKTARDS"
"SAFELANE OR FEED"
"NICE MATCHMAKING VOLVO"
people with clan tags is not a + lmao, i remember in cs 1.6 the "clanners" were usually the worst players
i change my name all the time and it mostly got 'King' in it but that doesn't matter name never reflects attitude
Ugh, clantags really don't say anything. Especially when they come in pairs, that just turns the situation from neutral to bad.
And I agree, the guys with clantags in CS were usually either the worst players or the most toxic ones.
^clans in cs were a bit weird
lets say there are 3 stages of progress of a player in terms of having a team
1). low stage: you feel lucky to be in a clan and put a tag
2). medium stage: you got several clans you play for, and as a result use tag only when participating in mixes/cws
3). high stage: you play in a serious team and dont ever join pub servers
so basically the only people you see having team tag are the ones who belong to 1)., and they are by-default not very skilled
I never understood why people change their name to things like "this mirana is retarded", "my team is full of autists", "report playername". It's basically telling both teams "report me for flaming my team". No one cares about the message in your username.

Do you sometimes think that the non pro players name will somehow reflect his attitude/playstyle in the game?
Ive found this interesting post below for reference:

Thoughts mainly on pub players?
