Announcing the Dotabuff App's new Adaptive Items module
Hey, Dota fans! Three months ago, we announced the beta launch of the Dotabuff App. The App, hosted on Overwolf’s platform, empowers users with the knowledge and data available on Dotabuff by bringing it into their games.
At launch, the Dotabuff App featured four module options:
- The Timing Coach
- Item Builds
- Ability Builds
- Power Spikes
We’ve been hard at work since then to expand the tools we’re offering in the App.
Today, we’re pleased to announce the launch of a new Dotabuff App module: Adaptive Items.
This new Adaptive Items module responds fully to the state of your game, personalizing item recommendations so you're equipping your hero for the game you're in.
From the outset of Dotabuff App project, we’ve wanted to provide a range of tools for new and experienced players. This new Adaptive Items module will provide item suggestions for Dota 2 players who want deeper guidance and recommendations suited to their specific game.
How does the Adaptive Items module work?
When starting a game, post-draft, the Adaptive Items module will display an item build path for you. It is game-aware, meaning it considers your hero and the draft to make the best possible suggestions.
The module highlights the next item for you to buy, giving you an estimate for when you should try to purchase the item. Time to farm, friend!
Each item will also have some informational tags. These identify items that enable farming or fighting to give you direction for what to do once you’ve purchased the item. The tags also flag items that are best for only one player to equip on your team.
Finally, when you purchase the item, the module will feature the next item in your build.
Don't like your item recommendations? Purchase something off the path, and the Dotabuff App will update with a new build based on your current inventory and the current game state.
You can also dismiss the next item in your build path to generate a new set of recommendations or undo a dismissed item to revert back.

Our new Adaptive Items module is the fifth module you can select in the Dotabuff App. With three free available slots, four if you’re a Dotabuff Plus subscriber, you will need to choose your modules wisely!
When should I use the Adaptive Items Module?

When should I use the Item Guide Module?
- When you want general recommendations
- When you want to test popular, successful high-level builds, regardless of your specific game state

It's a well-designed app. It's a shame I'm well past learning the fundamentals of Dota, or I would've loved to have learned the game with this alongside me in my matches.
Just gonna inform you that Overwolf is unusable on potato PC (and it makes Dota more laggy). So you guys might want to re-visit the app and make it more resource-friendly if you want to reach the low-end users.

guys why doesn't the ctrl+x to overlay work anymore?
I had the app once then uninstalled it.the overlay worked that time but now that I have installed it agian it doesn't.
is it removed or what?

Just want to report that after downloading the app on overwolf, everytime I press a button on my keyboard it took a screenshot of Dota2. Closing the dotabuff app while in game solved the issue and the screenshots stopped. Really looking forward to using the app more but the screenshots are a bit much.

What does bad in multiples mean?
according to your idea when should I press “regenerate build”? Only if I don’t like reccomendations? or if I didn’t manage to buy item on time I should use this button too?
Overwolf apps still cut your dota FPS in half... The Dotabuff app is no exception.
Thank you for your nice modules, I'm more than happy to be a plus subscriber. Especially the adaptive items module is a nice one, however, I only managed to make it work once. All other other times it gives an error message saying 'we're currently experiencing issues and will try to fix it asap'. Looking forward to use this module! Any workarounds are welcome!
