It only counts the items at the end of the game, because that's how the games are reported by the api... You can't get any info on who bought / sold what unless you actually watch each game individually.

Are item stats counted if player finishes the game with item in-hand or if they are in his possession at any point during the game. I suspect it is only at game end, which is why Aegis, Rapier, and Gem are all near the top. We all know that having Aegis does not guarantee a win. It may be good to clarify this somehow.
