Adjusted for me. I -5 after losing my last round.
My privacy setting is still on.
This is because Dotabuff still scrapes replays...
Valve is turning this off (they haven't yet) and expecting third parties to use the API. When Dotabuff starts using the API private data wont be available anymore.
Ya effectively the changes that valve said haven't taken effect yet, but when they do... gg dotabuff.
then dont play dota 2 daggius!! :)
STATS ARE JUST STATS, YOU WANT EM SO BAD? HoN and LoL may be a perfect fit for what are you looking for.
I support Valve on this one, its their damn game, they can choose what to do with it.
u stand by valve completely dismantling an intricate and painstakingly built website for which there is massive, massive demand for, cuz they want to make a competitive game casual as fuck?
25019 individuals voted in the poll and assuming that Dota 2 has at least a million total players, this "massive demand" is literally less than 2.5% of the player population.
In every competitive game, there is public matchmaking and ranked matchmaking.
Look at pubs as public matchmaking and at official tournaments as ranked matchmaking.
That's it. There's no reason to register stats in pub matches. If my drunk Chinese friend with 650 ping in my team intentionally feeds Qop and makes us lose the match does it mean I'm getting worse at the game? no.
Stop considering public matchmaking stats as relevant for some kind of ranking system
API is for Application Programming Interface, it allows people to "ask" steam about data.
This way, steam controls the data given.
Yeah boar wtf man, dont you know we hardxcore 1337 gamers pro love stats? damn man wtf is wrong with you, we love to be competitive and flame each other about lower K/D ratio and winrate man, thats basically dota 2 dood, we need the flame and the retarded self entitles!
God im so glad DBR is no more.
Well, I don't know what to say here. I think both parties (for and against it) are looking at it wrong.
I'm sure I'm going to be crucified for this post but I'll continue on.
I think DBR is potentially interesting for people who wish to know their own DBR. It's just a personal reflection. For me, I am grateful to know where I stand, even if its unaccurate compared to valve's MMR, or League's ELO, or Hon's MMR, or WoW's arena MMR. It's just nice to have a relative idea, I'm sure its partially correct somewhere along the line.
I also feel Valve can operate at their own discretion and have made games that have been unrivaled in this century and era of gaming and surely must have been doing something right so far, and they can choose whether or not to restrict data to third party sites. That being said, it's unfortunate they are choosing to do this, and the best we can do is voice our concerns and hope they understand. In the meanwhile, those of us that don't have our privacy turned on will enjoy the fruits of labor DBR provides.
Although I personally oppose valve's take on the matter, I fully support them in exercising their rights and wish they could look the other way, even if the community doesn't like it.
Everyone will get over it eventually and dota will still be dota, which doesn't change anything just because we lose access to a relative idea of what our rating might be.
Edit: I'd love to respectfully point out if 25,000 players respect this idea, then why should we hate the 25,000 and side with the majority? Why does the minority just completely get thrown out of the equation? 25,000 is a lot of people, and I'm sure it'll spread as dotabuff gets more popular. Likewise, if it doesn't, 25,000 is still a lot of people. Assuming 10% pay $6/monthly for dotabuff, that's 250 * 6 = 1500$ coming into dotabuff.com's pocket to help float the costs of the server, which are probably very expensive. And that's just the players that voted for DBR. Imagine the actual server hits that are regularly being done on a daily basis? They probably aren't making money off this (correct me if im wrong) and if they are I'm sure it's not a dream job they are all living off of. This isn't Riot people.
Dotabuff soon will be completly useless as it is now with checking someones rating. Its impossible and even soon replays will be shut down.

it still adjusts when you play matches
so stop spreading the rumor that valve's privacy thing broke it?
I think valve's privacy thing just screws up other parts of the dotabuff site..
