TI3 Group Stage Hero Performance in General Discussion
Relentless

77 Heroes were played in the group stage of The International. As the best teams in the world meet, many for the first time ever, the heroes that will win can change rapidly as strategies are adjusted. What was working in scrims and against lesser teams may not work anymore.

55 heroes performed within 2 games of 50% win...but a few stood out as being strong enough to win games for weak teams or weak enough to lose games for strong teams.

The best heroes in the group stage were:

    ............... Wins Losses
    Chen 24 - 14
    Dark Seer 22 - 12
    Bane 16 - 10
    Visage 32 - 26
    Weaver 27 - 21
    Io 9 - 5
    Lifestealer 26 - 22
    Naga Siren 14 - 10
    Batrider 18 - 15
    Mirana 5 - 2
    Shadow Fiend 9 - 6
    Ursa 5 - 2
    Viper 3 - 0

The worst Heroes of the group stage were:

    ....................... Wins Losses
    Queen of Pain 4 - 7
    Dragon Knight 18 - 22
    Enchantress 7 - 11
    Vengeful Spirit 8 - 12
    Sand King 3 - 8
    Tinker 3 - 8
    Nature's Prophet 16 - 23
    Outworld Devourer 9 - 17
    Rubick 15 - 24

it really surprises me to see Queen of Pain and Nature Prophet being among the worst heroes of group stages
thanks for sharing this with us

It was clear that some teams did not fully understand the real weakness and strength of some of these heroes. Several of the heroes that consistently lost were often banned by teams that did not understand how to beat them. Several of the heroes that consistently won were not banned much...and strong teams lost because of it.

QoP was not picked much because there were so many OD picks. When she was picked she tended to fail because bkbs are being prioritized by many teams. Often a team would have more than one bkb mid to late game making QoP ineffective.

How to kill a split pushing NP with smoke ganks has been fully understood by nearly all of the TI3 teams. NP tended to die at a critical point and lose the game. Only Admiral Bulldog's prophet was able to succeed because he uses it primarily to gank instead of to split push.

very surprised at OD's performance considering hes a top 2 ban for so many teams in the prelims

also surprised DK isnt doing well considering hes a top 2 pick for many teams

OD continues to be a top ban for teams that have not yet figured out that he is easy to kill and has crap dps when you rush bkbs.
OD is probably the worst performing of all heroes. Since he was picked so much he had the chance to show how weak the hero really is. I think the bubble teams, those near the edge of winner/loser bracket all had their place decided by a game won or lost because someone picked OD and it failed.

DK is doing ok...but is not quite worth the value being given him by the drafters. The mindset recently has been, just don't lose mid badly...DK doesn't lose mid by much...but that's not really good enough to justify his higher drafting position. So a pick ends up being spent on DK that gives away a truly powerful, game changing hero like DS or Chen.

              waku waku

i expected rubick to do better, this saddens me

                B2

                  rubick ? lol
everytime you see kky playing rubick he is dead lol Navi still win the game though

                  Relentless

Kuroky is possibly the best player of Rubic in the world...other pros are not able to get the job done in the tiny space they have before dieing. Rubic fails for most teams because he is too hard to use fully even for many pro players. If you can do that clutch ult steal its great but...usually you just die so basically the hero does not have an ult.

Rubic manages near 50% win rate in general for all pro games, but its different when you are trying to spell steal from the best in the world. The opportunities are so tiny, often stealing the spell you really need is completely impossible without a blink dagger.

I think Vanskor from Rox.KIS is as good as Kuroky but they didn't make TI3.

mmy's rubick was a piece of art the last time couple times i watched DK.

                      Relentless

MMY didn't get much chance to play Rubic so far. He won one game against Fnatic and lost one against Zenith.

Interesting stats, they are not indicative of the strength of the hero's though, more of the way the teams prepared for ti3.

Viper would never go 3-0 in pro games if the teams had prepared for it, but why would you it's such a left field pick, so the stats are heavily tainted by keyhole strats designed to throw out something their opponents could not have possibly prepared for.

Like the Pudge, Mirana combo Na'vi threw out vs LGD, normally no way a Pudge could win mid against a Puck, throw an arrow every 35 secs to force he's phase shift and bingo, lane won.

Interesting stats, still don't mean much though.
