Sorry that the signup form scared you away. Thanks for the feedback, we'll look at ways to improve. I'll try my best to address your concerns:
- Plus is a subscription service: while you're subscribed our systems deliver new features, and you have access to those features as long as you're subscribed.
- You're billed for one period initially then every 1/3/6/12 months after that (based on your preference - longer terms have a bigger discount) until you cancel. We make it very easy to cancel, just the click of a button.
- The one-time payment is for customers who can't create a recurring subscription, or who only want to pay for one period. This is a popular choice for people using PayPal without a credit card.
- We take security seriously and your credit card information never actually reaches any of our servers. Direct credit-card payments are processed with Stripe (stripe.com) using their systems directly and PayPal is... PayPal.

Would be cool if you guys introduced some kind of $1 try-out Dotabuff Plus features for 1 day.
I'll talk about it with the others. We may offer a free trial of some kind. There are some new Plus features coming very soon and we expect people will want to check them out.

How does Plus payment work? I was thinking of trying it out for a month but the sale page seems shady as hell. What does the one time payment button do? Is that implying that the other options aren't a one time payment? So, am I going to get charged every month if I purchase it normally? And why doesn't it show how much I'm going to play in the Paypal screen?
It'd do Dotabuff a lot of good to take a look at their business model. I almost didn't even bother trying it for one month because the pricing is absurd, and now the shady payment system makes me not want this site anywhere near my credit card.
