Help, my win rate is going down! in General Discussion
Hulk the kitty

I played over 650 games and in the past couple of months I only played single draft. 2 weeks ago I had a 51 % win rate but lately I'm only losing... I don't know what happened! I'm at 49 % win rate now and I don't understand why. I mean, I started playing with a friend this past month and we lost almost every single game because he was trying stuff with his heroes... Like Midas on Ogre when he was the only support or Clockwerk carry, trying to make battlefury at 30 min mark... I'm a nice girl and I never told him once not to do it because you know the type, they always know better because they're playing the game longer than you... 4 days ago I stopped playing with him and I'm still losing... 6 games lost and 1 win, that's how it goes. Anyway, how do I make my win rate go up again? I can't go to MMR because I've already have a terrible rating (2600) and I don't want to start losing there too. I'm not a terrible player, I don't feed, I buy wards and stuff for the team when I'm playing support, when I'm carry I try to farm my best and always try to help my team... What am I doing wrong? I like single draft because that's where I started playing more heroes...

Sounds like you're on your way down. Keep losing until you hit games you can win, then you can start doing what everyone else has already done.

                Strongmind

My cat is playing ATM my darling you must realize that you suck and that you are actually terible,if you want to improve your mmr/winrate and game overall. You say you are not terrible player but you are 2600 mmr which is much lower than average dota players, and even average dota players suck so much at this game that is paintfull to watch any of their games. So, start to watch replays of better players, read stuff and learn on your own mistakes. Improve your map awerens(if you got one , I think you don`t 2600 mmr never watch mini maps) lasthiting/denay also you miss many many creps at lanes. Hero mechanics you suck as well you are slow as shit, items on heroes you have no idea what actually is good and when to go which item. Your skill build on heroes sucks as well, and you dont know which spells first to skill and which second and etc. So there are so so many things to improve even pro players who live from dota 2 need to imrpove alot of things and its never inaf,so that you are not terrible player is just kinda hilarious what did you just said..if you want to be better be real tell yourself that you suck, and learn all those things I just told you. Welcome to the Dota2 community mate! Not many people are!
Anyways, I hear patch 6.81 hasn't been the kindest to most players, all saying the change in meta is leading to losses. Although mathematically, if more people are losing, then more are also winning... Just ignore the above statement or use it a an excuse for a lowering winrate, up to you!
If you're 2.6k MMR player, I could probably coach ya! I'm only 3,5k MMR myself but I'm always glad to help. Many people here are very willing to give advice too.

                      On topic.

Stick to heroes you mostly play good ( viper , krob, treant ).

In that mmr, you should focus playing on mid role. Forget your team ( mostly they are retards ) and try to do your best.

AVOID AP , play sd or ar, try to find at least 1-2 friends ( it is easier, better and a bit pleasure experience to play in stack )

Forget about playing support ( as 5-th role ) at that mmr.

If you really improved ( as your self ) from the start of your first dota 2 game, consider making new account, and trying to do your best.

If you need anything else , feel free to pm me,

                      Cheers

Kevin, you gotta remember, ranked games that will raise MMR will only be AP or CM.
SD and AR are all unranked.

As for not playing support... That's not ALWAYS true. Better to have a support on the team than 5 carries.

                        Hulk the kitty

Bogi, I've started playing dota last august and I made my MMR when they first added it to the game. It was a bad decision because I only played co op bot matches before and limited heroes... I'm talking about now. Now I'm not a terrible player.

6.81 Has changed a lot of things, Avidity dipped to 35% play rate this month and so have I. This patch it about grasping other heroes that you may have not played in awhile and learning to play them better instead of forcing yourself through this patch playing the heroes you alway have.

I was at 51.50% at the start of 6.81 and now sitting marginally about 51% and for me its not just 1-10 games its more like 50-60 games. Give it time, play other heroes and you will find your pace again in time.

                            Heathen

Your English is fine. The issue is that your first post is a giant wall of text that makes it very difficult to read. Typically you break things up with a line break between topics. So, you would have your first paragraph be about your history of games going well, then a line break, then a paragraph about what's happening now, and then a line break, and a final paragraph asking about what to do now.

Your overall winrate hasn't actually changed that much. The thing to keep in mind is that when you haven't played a huge number of games, it's easy for your winrate to skew by about 2 points just from a bad streak. Give it a couple more weeks now that you're not playing with that one terrible friend.

But if your MMR is at 2600...you might want to check out SirActionSlack's Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-J9mfcExhg

ignore DD, he can be a dick sometimes

I hate the current meta, my winrate is also dropping fast, it was at 53.5% and currently im at 53.39% (1100 games).

Try to do stuff like inhouse leagues or small community tournaments for practice, plus the games wont count, so its harmless to your stats.

Thank you all for answering. I thought of making a new account and start all over again and I probably will after TI4 if things don't get better. Also, about not playing support... That's impossible when the team picks only carries. :(

                                  Dance of the NeoVim

Pick Skywrath, go mid. Ez life, ez rares.

On a more serious note, Sky is very strong now and also Jugg (if played right).

                                    Trodlabundin

I like how you say sometimes, Wink =)

Sorry if you got insulted or something, but when I get frustrated, mad or anything I usually let people know exactly what I mean.

Your thread/post was extremely hard to read, thus it looked like some 6 year old has written the thread.

Didn't try to insult you or anything, I'm a nice person)

EDIT: I mean it's common sense to actually write so people can read what you just wrote without having to concentrate extremely hard or something.

Rofl at people saying that the way to rise in rank is to play mid. That's only true if you are like 1k mmr above the players you play with. Sadly the only advice I can give you if you can't wreck 2600 is to get better. That means last hit better if you are carry. Protect your carry better if you are support. Outplay your enemies better if you are mid or hardlane.

                                        salt enjoyer

No! You must always play supports. If you're genuinely not a moron the support is the most impact heavy hero along with a mid in the early/mid stages of the game which is where the outcome is shaped bar a stupid throw.

                                          Ambulante

the only thing i could tell you is to try improve game by game
try to criticize yourself and see pro players streams/videos, you will get inspired

remember that there are 3 main reasons of losses : your team suck, the enemy team is way better or a normal game
so, 2/3 of these situations you can avoid, its up to you

also dota is 5x5, you will need luck sometimes and stacking generally doesnt help improving WR, or your friends suck or you are the friend that suck

thats my opinion and if its helps someone in anything it would be nice... like 8 months ago i had 21 more losses than wins, and now i have 1 more win than losses, and those were the lessons i learned

                                            MLG Quickscoper 420 Kushlord

Before you read on, I admit I suck. But the fact that most dotabuffers are above 2.6k does not mean your average player is. I mean, its no coincidence that games in very high skill are usually 8-10 profiles, whereas games at 3k ish have 5 at best.

Not sure what "average" mmr is, but 2.6k doesn't sound that bad. Also, I think the mmr calculation system is too simplified. It doesn't take into account that most people never ward, never support, never farm, never deny, are always out of position, and buy multiple orbs.

Seems like mostly you get mmr for a win, lose it for a loss automatically, and the number gained/lost is not dependent on whether you had 400 lh and 10k tower damage vs. you went 0-12 and got carried.

                                              Hulk the kitty

I know I can't compare myself with 4k-5k mmr. I always watch pubs when pros are playing, and tournaments. That's why I have 3000 hours in game because when I'm not playing, I'm spectating, trying to learn. I really suck compared to them.

I know the supports are important, the most important role in the game in my opinion, and I will not stop playing them. But yeah, I'll try to improve my game and maybe my rating will go up.

                                                Thank you again for answering.

Oh yeah, stop playing weird modes as well. Play to your strengths before trying to fix your weaknesses!

well... you suck...you wont get any better in a week or two... stop playing hardcore support and use SirActionSlack guide to some extent, there is rly no reason to waste gold/wards on some fucktard that cant use them.

and pls dont make a new account! you are were you're supposed to be... you might not ruin my games but you will ruin some 3k games if you do and you will continue doing until you are abck to your current mmr (even lower since its easier to fall with a new account)
