I decided to make a guide

IO is one of Dota's strongest and imbalanced hero. Even though so , people often mistake him as a support due to his size, therefore still stuck at low skill bracket. IO as a carry will definitely guarantee you a 95%+ win rate. So let's get started with the fundamentals.

As a Carry, It's best recommended that you go mid as you receive no disturbance of last hits from teammates. You're going to need a phase boots as it not only provides damage for last hitting but also the extra movement speed which allows you to have better positioning as well as chasing after preys like Night Stalker ,Templar assasin , Centaur Warrunner etc.If you think you need the attack speed , i recommend getting Power Threads.But anyway, your skill set should be set to 1-3-1 at level 5 , take advantage of your Spirits damage and land them perfectly to ensure that your prey does not escape.

There are 2 main cliffs you should give prominence to as it will assist you in getting your armlet fast, after you have reached level 6 and have gotten your Midas , increase the "Relocate" spell(Ultimate) and start relocating to the nearest cliff and farm there.You'll only have 10 seconds to farm so last hit well while it lasts.If you're lucky , you'll actually have teamamates who will buy time for you. Try to get Mask of madness after that , imagine the attack speed you'll have after activating Mask of Madness and Overcharge , which should be enough for you to kill Roshan.

Once you posses the Aegis of Immortality , you'll now be able to gank enemies. Here's a tricky combo , players may think IO is weak , so you're gonna have to bait them into the tower , then tether yourself to your teammates and wipe them.

As IO is quite squishy , buy 2 hearts at 20 minutes to for early sustaining of survivability.Desolater and Monkey King Bar is also a good choice if you want to penetrate through tanky heroes' thick skin.Refresher orb is quite situational , get it when you're low on farm , instead of 10 seconds , you'll get 20 seconds to farm on cliffs.

IO isn't impossible to kill , you'll notice that you face difficulties sometimes in the game , especially when there's 5 man ganks on you. What you want to do is to activate your spirits and have them as close as possible to yourself , this will prevent harm from enemies as it intimidates them , any enemy heroes get close to it and it'll unleash a devastating blast to fend them off.

What's you'll find most intriguing about IO is it's ability to chop of trees with Tether. It's a great tactic especially when you need place to put observer/sentry wards. Don't worry if the tree grows back , you'll be able to chop them again , buy a quelling blade to increase the rate of chopping.

So what do you do if you're way underfarmed and there's a horde of creeps charging towards your barracks? It's simple , get a Black King Bar and a Ghost Scepter. With these 2 items , you'll be completely immune to any damage. Sell all your items if you don't have sufficient amount of money to buy it. You'll not regret.

Don't feel sad if you fed in your first few games.
