Anyone have this add on? I haven't played Diablo 3 since 3 months after it came out and was disappointing at best.

Would you give it the John Cena sup, to kid clapping approval? Or is it just Blizzard paying people off.

EDIT and is SHAQ holding the kid?? I can't tell.

metacritic and reddit generation giving every triple As game 90+ score. These are the same COD/BF4 kiddies who like give every FPS like 90+ score and don't even know a good movie or game if they seen one. These are the same guys who give every Megan Fox movie a 10/10!

If they grade by that standard, Diablo 2, Warcraft 3 and starcraft brood war would be 120. Super Mario Brothers 3, Wolfenstien, Halo, Quake and MW2 would be near 150.

On a positive note, users who gave Diablo 3 a 6/10 are giving it a 9/10 so i guess it's redeemable, but NO it shouldn't cost an expansion to redeem a fail product. That's like selling BF4 & Hardline as new games which is just a modded version of BF3. Should be free for a mini-expansion not a NEW game.

Diablo III never was bad. It maybe wasn't as great as Blizzard game should be, but it still was pretty good, especially, in comparison to a ton of various diablo-clones.
Also, yes - a lot of people (my friends included) say, that after numerous patches and addons D3 have become much better.

I mean, come on - D2 was friggin' awful in a long run, until LoD came (and, actually shit ton of adding content patches).

By the way, I recommend everyone, who likes diablo-like games, to try Median XL - a mod for Diablo II: LoD. It's amazing, trust me.

PoE, Torchlight 2, Marvel Heroes 2015, Gauntlet 2014 are much better games than D3: ROS. RoS is what Mass Effect 3 to the Mass Effect Franchise.

People go "Diablo was bad"...what element of the game was bad? It was just another hack 'n slash and for some reason fans expected bigger things even though they had no clue what those things were.

                              1. Bought the game on release
                              2. Played the game with a group of friends (like borderlands)
                              3. Grew bored of it.
                              4. Picked it up again just before the expansion.
                              5. Grew bored of it again.
                              6. Bought the game expansion on release.

                              9. ....will probably pick it up again soon.

People constantly moan about how shit a game is when they are simply expecting to much from a very simplistic genre of game. You grind constantly and items drops were always fine and the people complaining about the item drop system are probably the same ones complaining about the fact that they didn't get couriers from the 20 chests they opened. Tough titties!

Diablo III - 7/10 on release 8/10 on patching which is far above most garbage games steam has to offer these days.
Diablo III RoS - Easily 9-10/10, made the game a lot more immersive and the additional boss levels, paragon etc. gave it a lot more replay value.

Edit: Just thought I should add that most people shouldn't be playing these types of games solo anyways, they are always a lot funner with more people involved and probably more challenging as well due to increased difficulty.

Torchlight was a fun little Hack 'n Slash with almost zero replay value.

Look at user scores, 64 for reaper of souls, 39 for diablo 3. User scores aren't perfect either, if a game has any technical issues user scores slam it hard where reviewers may not remove points at all cus they don't experience the technical issue. Also user scores are often biased based on past games and how the new game doesn't stack up, often tainted by nostalgia. Reviewers tend to evaluate a little more in a vacuum. Dragon age 2 is a perfect example. It is by no means a bad game. Reviewers give it a 82. That might be a little high but it's a pretty solid game. User scores are 43. Read the 1,2 and 3 star reviews, every single one is the same shit about how WAAAA I wanted dragon age origins the sequel! This game sucks! They overrate the original and underrate the sequel.

Same shit happened with mass effect series too. I haven't played diablos but probably same shit going on here.

So......... what has changed on the reaper of souls expansion since I dropped the Diablo 3 on initial release? I remember I dropped it when they started letting you lvl past 50? They gave these other sub levels (forgot what they were called) Anything change?

Is it more than 1 extra map/lvl like on the old D2 expansion where you get mt. arreat?

Does your old character import to the expansion?

I played D3 when it first came out. A friend and I beat Inferno then were like....wtf do we do now?

It took the expansion to make D3 fun post-beating the game. As I understand it, D2 had good late-game without needing an expansion. That was the biggest area the players I interacted with complained about. D3 took a long time to make, so players' expectations were high.

Also, considering how much of D3 plot was just ported from D1 (some say but nostalgia! I say lazy developers.), I think it was fair to expect more out of the initial game.

edit: I haven't forked out the cash for the expansion, but I've heard only good things so far (might explain the high score)

people who were utterly disappointed from diablo 3 didnt buy the expansion thus it is expected to be a lot higher rated even if it were the same shit

D3 and the expansion BOTH COMPLETE FUCKING GARBAGE. Biggest scam ever.... Played both for 3-4weeks then it got boring as shit.

Metacritic isn't bribed, it's an aggregate of other bribed sources. Read user reviews, ask on forums, draw your own conclusions.

Also 3-4 weeks and it got boring... did you beat the game? How many hours? I mean I beat tomb raider in a week and about 14 hours of gameplay and it was awesome. Just cus a game is short doesn't mean it sucks. Most games are shorter these days. I beat torchlight 2 in about 20 hours and grinding levels in it now is boring. Doesn't mean game is bad.

People laments about D3 were mostly about the AH. The game play is fun, however it gets tedious and boring after a while.
I've compared D3 to Marvel Heroes, where its just non stop creeps coming at you, everywhere you step theres something to beat down, kill.

At least I got Starcraft 2 with money I got from RMAH.

"So......... what has changed on the reaper of souls expansion since I dropped the Diablo 3 on initial release? Does your old character import to the expansion?"

Paragon(the leveling past 60 you remember) now starts at 70 and you can customize what those levels give you. Instead of 100 levels of roughly 1-3 stat gains in all 4 attributes and 3% mf/gf, you now have "infinite" levels where you're granted 1 point into 4 sections(core, offense, defense, utility) to spend in 1 of 4 sub sections, which all but 2 sub sections have a cap of 50 points spent(you get 1 point for each category every 4 levels, core 1, offense 2, defense 3, utility 4, core 5, etc). For example, offense contains attack speed, cooldown reduction, crit chance, and crit damage iirc. This really helps prevent you from being stagnant waiting for item drops to happen.

Loot 2.0 came out after Paragon I think? Ah is gone too. 98% of gear dropped will pertain to the character you are on(very rarely will you get dex/int on a barbarian for example). Legendaries drop like candy, 90% of the rest of the drops will be "rare"(yellow).

The expansion adds the Westmarch map similar to how LoD added Arreat. However, it also adds adventure mode to the rest of the acts(no more story/cutscenes and very specific quests to do that can easily be completed within 30 minutes for decent rewards).

Your old character does transfer to the expansion, but expect them to be weaker than a new character that is leveling up(mostly due to loot 2.0).

In addition they replaced Monster Power with the new Difficulty system(no more normal, nightmare, hell, inferno), which is generally accepted to level on Master, and switch it up to Torment 1 when your gear gets good and stay there until base level cap; Continuing to increase in difficulty as your gear improves(up to Torment 6, each level of Torment causes mobs to have 60% more health and 45% more damage relative to the previous difficulty). Mobs also no longer scale in damage with more players, just more health. A few more affixes for elite mobs, as well as a couple others being changed.

Honestly, with the expansion, the game is in a hell of a lot better place than it was on release. And most of the hate of the release came from the game not being a graphical update to Diablo 2.

"and the people complaining about the item drop system are probably the same ones complaining about the fact that they didn't get couriers from the 20 chests they opened. Tough titties!"
Oh c'mon, loot 1.0 sucked xD It was better to use Gold Find gear than Magic Find gear and just buy what you wanted off the AH.

Also a bonus for those wondering about gameplay time for "beating the game", during the start of seasons people exploited an easy bounty on the hardest difficulty to hit base level cap within an hour, though I think outside of that little exploit most people did it between 8-16 hours.

Diablo is only one of the prime evils. He is NOT the most powerful demon to ever exist(by far, in fact he and the other prime evils were borne from a much more powerful demon). In D3, when you finally fight Diablo, you aren't even fighting him, you're fighting all the prime evils at once in a single body renamed Legion. And when it comes to RoS, not only does Malthael literally have the power of death making him immune to harm from mortal sources, halfway through the fight, he combines with Legion. So if you look at it like that, what you're fighting is never just Diablo, it's Diablo + 6 = Legion and then Malthael + Legion = Final Fight of RoS. In D2 you were basically just fighting his brother, but in D3 he's fused with that same brother.
