Visage Underrated As Hell in General Discussion
:) Baby Bushkin :)

I love playing Visage he's one of the only heroes i've had a 5 win streak with, but i get shit every time i pick him, am i wrong and Visage is actually a bad hero or am i correct in saying he's actually a brilliant support who's really underrated and should be picked more?

    Polkadot Piranha

He's a good hero. He's just really greedy and unless facing a trilane vs trilane situation, his laning stage is so-so. Also the whole nerf of his base magic resistance often means he's really squishy (especially with all the snipers and trolls removing his Cloak really fast).

That being said, he can have massive damage output in teamfights, and once he comes online, he can basically dish out as much physical damage (although with some downtime) as some of the fattest carries. He has the added bonus of being a hero people don't encounter often, so he's a bit of a curve ball, and people often overestimate how easy it is to chase down his Gargoyles.

People also often run weak dual lanes in pubs, so I imagine Visage may actually be a really good pick, as Chill and Assumption can wreck havock.

@DodoBasse plus he's really easy to play with and user friendly, his tower pushing ability is also really good, its good picking him lik you said because he's not often picked so most don't know how to deal with him, he's so underrated

        Socram

Easy to play with? He's actually one of the few heroes in the game that requires some microing skills if you want to effectively use him, which is one of the reasons why he is so rarely picked.

          Rocket

He is one of my favourite heroes. I dont see why Dodo would say he is really greedy though - tranquils+medallion and he is online.

Saddest part of playing Visage is when there is a Drow on your team who doesn't build agility items - once you have 3 birds, in total they do 2.7DPS per agility point in Drow and that's without the 2,088 damage from the 8 charges they come with. Plus the armor reduction from the medallion. Plus an overranged level 1 Dagon on a 4sec cooldown.

            Rocket

Axe and Bristleback make you cry though.

@Socram i found him very easy to play with, he's actually one of the heroes i didnt struggle with to be honest.

@Rocket Axe often makes me cry hahaha

jugg, troll, sniper, axe rape your familiars and you become useless. i picked visage once in the last 3 months and still complain about it.

                        allidoiswynn

He is one of the best #4 there is in this game!

When I used to be with Xcalibur in a team I played this hero 99% of the times and had an almost guaranteed a huge impact every game.
Requires a lot of practise, as the micro of this guy differes from any other hero and the focus of the units are way different.

Generally speaking he used to be great at deathball and works wonders with drow. Nowadays he might not work in every game, however if you want to practise a hero you pick it regardless of matchup to figure out the small weaknesses which have a great impact on your overall performance with the hero

EDIT: His level dependance got increased also which forces him also to have a greater impact earlier to not get behind + this is the biggest struggle he has right now with this meta

You don't have to have perfect micro for him to be effective but the fact that he has minions at all scares people off, me included. He also suffers cus he will get forced into a 5 spot and I feel he is terrible there. He can almost be a 3 spot on some teams except you want him to dual lane. But he's way more effective with some items. And you don't want to be forced into building mana boots on him so it kinda suck when your 5 spot is a lich or someone who builds tranquils.

^Agree. Visage is very hard to play in a position 5 role. He needs his farm.

Learn to play from good visage players. Learn farming patterns and learn how to micro the birds to keep pushing the lanes so that you can always put your team into a good position to fight.

Learn not to pick him against his counters (like bristleback/axe). Your birds instantly die from them and they basically become useless in team fights (you don't want this to happen because that's basically half your hero).

And, like others said, he is pretty weak in this patch. Mostly because heroes with high attack speed and range would usually destroy your birds. But, if you're interested in him, don't let that stop you from playing him. If you learn to play versus heroes strong against him, then you can definitely play against heroes that don't do well against him.

Also @Dodo: Visage is one of the best supports you can have in a tri lane vs tri lane scenario. His nuke damage is insane even with a level 1 soul assumption. Although I do agree that he is a greedy pick due to the amount of farm that he needs (one could still probably get away with this though considering that games tend to go late now).

@OP: with the right farming pattern, you should look to aim for a 25-30 minute aghanims scepter on a normal non-snowballing game (this includes tranquils/medallion/buying some wards etc).

                              Rocket

I had to practice his combo quite a lot before I had the muscle memory of it (i'm old)

                                but i basically go

                                1.Select Visage, Ctrl-right click target
                                2. Use Q on target then medallion
                                3. Wait till full charges on soul assumption then W

i don't understand why i find it so tricky. i don't have these sorts of problems with meepo or other heroes.
