Queue times aren't too long, especially around the 3-4k mark. Usually 4 minutes at the most.
Queue times are definitely 'OK'. It's slightly hard to find a match in anything other than All Pick though. 5k+ has longish queue times on non-weekends as far as I know. Australian servers can be a shitshow when SEA is down (most SEA players migrate to Aus because they ping lower there for some reason) but in my experience Pinoys can be pretty fun to play with. (Kappa, I'm Filipino.) Chinese pubbers generally know how to speak English because they probably live in Aus/NZ anyway. Just watch out for 4-stacked Chinese, they will definitely not communicate with you. (although this might be a given with any 4 stack)
In my experience in the Australian servers I have seen about 1-3 Russians. Pinoys = russ/peru of the Aus servers. I usually claim not to be one because they're more likely to not cooperate with me.
Finding a stack should be natural if you keep playing. Some Australian/NZ players can be overly friendly or just add whoever was nice to them. I personally know a few groups that stack up if you're good. (I've personally been added by a lot of random pubbers, mostly 'carry/mid' players for supporting but I never accept them.) I personally became best friends with a person I met in 2k when I was new. We're now basically the same MMR.
^ only city you know? I would guess Melbourne cause it's a student town, or Sydney cause that's like the london of Australia

I'm alright. Mainly, I play as a support. I would only pick other roles if there's already one or two supports.
I'm not so great at a mid though. You'd see me play them on my dotabuff, it's just all luck and shit.
My current mmr in both solo and party are around 3.3k.

Will mostly play in ranked games though. Heard the queue time is long. I'll just have to deal with that crap for while.
