average kda, and kda based on average stats of kills, deaths, and assists are different.
lets say you play two games
first 2/1/2
second 10/10/10
average kda is (4+2)/2 = 3
kda based on average stats is 24/11 ~ 2.2

General DiscussionDifferent KDA Ratio on Most Played Heroes vs matches by hero
When I watch my most played heroes( http://www.dotabuff.com/players/167947788/heroes ), it shows Bristle with 3.96 KDA but when looking at matches done with Bristle( http://www.dotabuff.com/players/167947788/matches?hero=bristleback ) it shows 6.41 KDA.
Why are they different?
