People will say that it's not, but that's bs. Objectively, a 5k is pretty damn good at dota. A lot of people with 5k have simply hit their skill cap, so in high 4k to 5k you will see people with like 5,000+ matches, even 7 - 8K matches.

People who get 6k etc. are basically talented, gifted, or played for a LONG time. 5k's are not pro, that's for sure, but they ARE very skilled.

Keep in mind, only 200 people in my region (NA) are above 5.9k or so. That means in the entire world, of 10 million+ dota players there's like what, 1,000 to 5,000 or so 6k players? 5K isn't pro, ok, but you CAN'T say it's not good just because better players exist. There's a fairly small pool of humans who are actually better than 5k..

I just did the math. The total players opendota has recorded with MMR at and above 6,000 MMR is 3,786. This is only players who choose to show their MMR, and I counted from 6,000 to 9,100. There's about 2,800 for 6K, I forgot to check so I'm guessing.

Let's say there was 3,800 6K's. Now let's say there's 2.5 that amount that opendota didn't collect data of. 9,465. Let's say there's 13,200,000 dota 2 players in the entire world (approx the count of unique dota 2 players/month). It's more than that, probably, but whatever.

9,465/13,200,000 = 0.071. So if we're pretending there is actually this many 6K's, and ignoring the fact that there are duplicate accounts, etc. that's what you get, top .07%.

34,256 players between 5,000 and 6,000 show their MMR and opendota has collected their information. There's then about 50,000 5k players in the world.

                  nah

Honestly your pretty far off 5k if your 3.8k solo.

                    Karellen

Yeah. 3.8k is basically a fancy name for 3.3k. The skill difference between just 3.8 and 4.2 is huge. 3.8ks are potato AF.

5k is amazing if you're not a tryhard nerd
                        4k is nice
4k is good if you're not a tryhard nerd

                        CUTNPASTE

5k is pretty good but with inflation it isn't as good as it once was.
