yep, it's called the flynn effect. However, some studies (not necceserially good ones) show that the average IQ has gone down. I wouldn't use dailymail or any other newspaper as a source nonetheless. Journalists tend to misinterpret data and write about things they have no understanding of
Mine is 115. 115 is above average. I feel like above average fits me well, I'm no special prodigy genius whatsoever, but in school I was an honors student even though I barely tried--doesn't mean I'm smart, public school at least where I lived did not have smart people in normal classes or even people that cared about school, so it doesn't say a whole lot. In dota my winrate is always 52.5% sometimes 53, nothing great, but it's above average by a little bit, I'm stuck in 4.5 - 4.7k which just means I'm better than 3k tards. In FPS games I have 51% winrates, 1.3 KDA's. It's like I'm destined for only above averageness no matter how hard I try to be anything more.
Any 5K+ here who know their IQ? I feel like you either have skill innately or you just don't.. I see people with 7 - 8,000 matches who are just low 5k, while there are people with less than 1000 wins that have "great" MMR's! Is it possible people with 6K etc are just gifted with a great IQ and the difference between a good player and a great player is just the brain they were born with? A roll of the dice??
i've never tested my iq, but even with avg IQ you could have same results as i could have.
simply because i just do analysis to improve, it doesn't take a genius to figure out advanced mechanics of a video game.

I'm sure that while intelligence affects the rate of improvement, high skill in dota (actual high skill, not 3.4k) is attainable with enough time and focus in almost all cases
iq measures ur intelligence compared to others in ur age. the average is 100. it has nothing to do with people became smarter or dumber over the last decades.
maybe i can explain it to u with following example: 10.000 25year old participate on an iq test with 500 questions. the questions have a different skill level ranging from very easy to very hard. on average every student is able to solve 355 questions. so if u are able to solve exactly 355 out of the 500 questions ur iq is 100. some people aren't able to solve 355 questions -> their iq is below 100. however there are participates who are able to solve the harder questions and score more than 355 -> their iq is above 100.
according to the normal distribution modell 68% of the 10.000 25 year old participants should be able to solve slightly above or below 355 questions -> their iq ranges from 85 to 115. if u perform very poorly (lets say u only solved 200 qustions), than ur iq could get values of less than 70, which indicates serious mental deficits. but 95% of the participants will have an iq between 70 and 130.

My IQ is 120-130 did many different Tests and all, but i dont consider myself as clever. I always sucked in school and stuff... I think IQ is Same BULLSHIT than mmr.
I got calibrated (lul) 156. I sucked hard every mf video games ever existed.
starcraft, counter strike, all those catchy games that require Uber human reaction time & auto pilot was too much for me.
I suck dotes too but so far it's only game I could truly enjoy because it measures ability to keep track of things and making decisions not just time spent playing and physical reaction.
Iq definitely helps in dota but it's only one aspect . Fast reflexes both mental and physical help too . Trying to get better through studying the game helps , amount of games helps if you are actively trying to get better . Being able to actually admit your mistakes helps . Communication skills helps since it's a team game . Leadership helps with it being a team game . Emotional stability helps so you don't get tilted . Equipment helps too not everyone has same equipment . Alright so above I wrote 10 distinctly different things that make you better at dota and iq was just one of them . You can even add mental and physical stamina in there for 11 and 12. Which would allow you to train more with results .
Having high iq is pretty legit to own some matches. But emotional and spiritual condition still affects more. Trust in your faith, stay calm despite your feeders. Because the comeback is going real slowly...

In my infinite search of reason in this sea of questionable plays and mental breakdowns in all cardinal directions possible and created by mankind or even god himself, I've found what I believe is to be the reason why I am a normal skill trash trenchlord. The next paragraphs will undoubtledly display the kind of resolve I've aqcuired.
Mental retardation is a condition in which people have significantly below average mental functioning (an intelligence quotient or IQ of 70-75 or less compared to the normal average of 100), causing problems with everyday living. People who are mentally retarded may have problems with communication, taking care of themselves, daily living, social skills, community interactions, directing themselves, health and safety, school, leisure activities, and work.
Studies in the 1980s suggest that between 2.5 and 3 percent of all people in the United States are considered mentally retarded. According to the 1990 census, 6.3 and 7.5 million people in the United States have mental retardation.
