Not all heroes are good orchid carriers, sometimes an orchid is way too expensive, and timber can actually buy a way to dispel it anyway (lotus orb is pretty popular in this regard), so a sheepstick is much better to invest into. So you're either rushing orchid on a core that can quickly get it, before timber reacts, or you build it on supports in the "slow as fuck but eventually there" fashiong which, if timber is actually a problem, he'll be able to counter by lotus easily. Instead of all that crap, just pick heroes that have innate silences or lockdown in general, do not count on building orchid on a hero without a disable before the drafting stage actually begins.

So what you're asking is not "why are people not buying orchid against timber" but rather "why did I pick so poorly", unless the timber pick was after yours.

A lot of heroes would rather invest 4k gold into an item that's more useful. Blood thorn is good, yes, and you can now build orchid on a ton of carries because of that, but I think orchid is kinda useless if you get it too late, as a support you want more useful things and earlier so, as a core hero it just might be a shitty choice and fuck up your item progression. If you play Sven you can get an orchid to counter timbersaw, but at the point orchid is relevant enough, you've already fucked up your item progression which should be a few farming items into fighting items, and orchid just isn't an item you'd rush on Sven. Obviously, you can go blood thorn and have a silence, but the reality is that timber can also get a way to dispel it (and your stun counters timber more than orchid at that point).

You don't build shivas on timber if the enemy team has silence, you build lotus orb, he has probably got way too confident and messed up, there was a game at TI6 when Sven was massively leading by 10k in net worth, he didn't get the BKB, so just kept dying without being able to kill anything, instead of going the safe route, having less DPS but being able to consistently hit shit for 10-5 seconds. They lost. People make stupid mistakes like this that are very obvious after-the-fact, and even professionals make dumb mistakes.

Look at the item timings, silence comes at very late game, and is pretty hard to hit a timber with the ES silence, since timber is very mobile.

besides, why are we even commenting on a pro match where very good people play vs very good people when that does in no way correlate with a pub unless you're 6k+ and then only if you don't have 4k teammates

Eul is very popular item on timber and can be built right after Bloodstone. Moreover very quickly as bloddstones lets timber farm ultrafast

i personally wouldve gone bkb but im a trash timber and hes playing about a million levels higher than me anyway

Yeah Euls/BKB are solid on timber. That isn't really going to counter him.
