There is a pro player who uses WASD. Can't recall who ATM, I'm sure a more knowledgeable person will come along and let you know.
If you have piano hands and don't miss keys - its useful.
My setup is WASD - camera.
123 - 5 6 - 4 abilities.
q- boots, no matter what type.
efxcv - items
Caps Lock - Control Move (deny key?)
Spacebar selects hero
Micro keys are the f1-2-3-4 and mouse.
Most people get a headache from that type of setup, but I'm comfortable with it.
As far as how comfortable you are with your mouse, look into getting a different mouse - game pad, wrist rest. Smth along those lines.
I'll describe my control setup just to set up an example as well:
WASD - Camera
Q,E,Z,X,C,R (Keys around WASD) - abilities
123 - Items (Quickcast)
Alt-Q, Alt-E, Middle mouse click - Items (Cast)
Capslock - Attack/Force attack
Space-bar - Stop
Alt-1,Alt-2,Alt-3 - Micro control (Can't use Function keys since I play on a laptop)
Mouse scroll - Courier stuff
I wouldn't say I have piano like skills but I am very comfortable with the setup and find the lack of mouse movement very relaxing. Plus I even use WASD for all other games, even racing (not arrow keys). I've tried using camera drag function but its way too messy unless it's possible using only left-mouse button or something...

This is something I'm sure has been discussed a couple of times before, but atleast not on this forum (to my knowledge) but which I am curious to gather thoughts on. What is the general conception of using WASD for camera movements in Dota? Does anyone in HS or VHS use it and find it successful/comfortable/effective? Is it viable if all other necessary hotkeys (for item use, micro control and the like) can be accommodated with this setup? Does it provide for an easier and less intensive mouse-work (bye bye Carpal Tunnel)?
