For someone trying to go pro and rly putting a real effort into games. For someone that doesnt give a fuck, ruins 24/7, feeds, flames and eats while playing, browses and just chills its quite ok

Ah I miss the times when I was 16 years old and had high dreams to be a SmackDown vs. Raw pro wrestler on the PS2. Glad I didn't drop out of school for that dream!

if u wanna go pro you should first try to raise mmr to 5.5k at least(4.9 doesnt look like anything for pro players.u want to IMPRESS them you see.) then when you start getting matched up against pro players in rank at 5.5k+ you can try to contact them after the match.if they are rather impressed with ur skill in the match you can try and ask to join their scrim so u guys can train tgt in lobby to see ur strength against pro players and also to get to know them since u might be in the same team with them in the future and also this is for u to see who to scout if u are making ur own team instead of joining one.also, this is to see where u stand against pro players.many 6-7ks actually dont do well in pro scene because they lack the grouping skills(communicaiton, camaraderie, cultural differences and personality etc) so believe me 7k doesnt mean u can go pro.some 8ks dont even do too well in pro scene.if after the scrims you are still doing well, then you can really consider dropping out.for a start if you dont have a team to join try to make ur own team for bcup since bcup members still can go for qualifiers.and if u shine from there sponsors will start coming in and teams might even poach u.i have seen many 5ks who aspire to join pro scene.but they failed.and others who did.remember , you are not the same as others.miracle- didnt stop when people look down on him when they think he is just some random pub player and so shouldnt you if being in the pro scene is what you truly wanted.good luck.

Danish too, dude going pro is one of the hardest things in the world. I was pretty dedicated too, but have lost a lot of motivation recently, trying to take it and slow and regain it, and i'm pretty much also in the same shoes as u. But i'm being realistic about it, focusing on school and stuff, while working on Dota when I have free time. Just keep your expectations in check, no one will bother with u if you aren't at least 8k mmr, and getting there takes A LOT of grinding, if you play all day and somehow manage to gain mmr every day (sometimes you lose a lot), it still take a long time, and if you don't make it its just A LOT of time wasted. Men, held og lykke.
I suggest u read this through, it's something EterernalEnvy wrote to a kid who also wanted to drop out of school to go pro in dota.
Had to censor some words, but u can read it uncensroed here if u want: https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/325ek3/my_younger_brother_wants_to_quit_education_and/

I believe that any pro player could maintain 5.5k+ MMR by only committing 20~ hours a week. I also believe that a complete noobie with the motivation and ability to go pro will calibrate at around 4.5~6k+ MMR depending on whether he randoms or focuses on certain heroes (I would assume this is ~300 hours).
However, I doubt this is convincing to your brother because honestly this is all just bull*** I spew out based on 0 data from any real pro. It's just things I thought about and extrapolated from talking to people.
If you like you could research on genius players (Akke, Azen from smash bros, etc.), these guys that can be at the top of random as* games to convince your brother. I wouldn't know anything about that but I'm gonna lay down my own story in dota. (If you don't want to read this shit just go to the end)
Alright I wrote a bunch of sh** but I deleted it all, I'm just gonna talk about fuc**** DotA.
Alright so i first picked up DotA when I saw my auntie's son playing it at a Lan Cafe. I was 14 at this time my first year in HS, the next week I went to that Lan Cafe and became basically the best player there though no one really wanted to accept that. I almost got beat up because I would play for $ against these gangstas and would always win. I was known to be the best at my high school but honestly who gives a fu**. If your the best at your high school that just means your above average, your most likely still awful at the game.
Ok so I played online AP stacks and my stack won every fuc**** game forever untill this dude called Hit0mi crushed me. At that point I added this guy right away and asked him why hes so fuc**** good and why im so fuc**** bad at this game. He told me he played in this special league where no ones awful at the game (which is not true). I asked if I could play and he said no I'm not good enough. So I spent 1 week playing with Hit0mi (Mostly 1on1s and some TDAs), and he told me my laning ability is now at his level and he could vouch me (He was top 16 in the league what a player).
Ok so this league was called IHL and was a USE server league adminstered by ucross. I was on trial period and if you play bad in this league you would be unvouched. So my very first match I played against Merlini, the ranked 1 player in the league. At this time Merlini was considered the best USE player because JMC won some tournament agianst coL in the finals (fear was on coL, was also ranked 6). I went on ventrilo (my first time using that service) and I told my team I would support (because I'm nervous and i thought I was sh**). Anyway my team was full of bigger pus*** and forced me mid to go up against Merlini's old SF with old Silencer. Merlini went 0-10 that game after I solo killed him multiple times and completely annihilated him. He then quit playing the league for a month (ya fu** you Merlini). I told master Hit0mi this and he was proud _. Anyways there was ~250 in the league and after 3 months of playing and being constantly flamed by Swissbeatz I was rank 30. This sh** wasn't like NEL btw, IHLeagues were serious sh*** back then and now they are total garb***. There wasn't any tournaments back then so rankings was all the ego rage. This was still all during my first year of DotA.
Anyway I ended up quitting the game to play maple story, I played on and off but I'm not gonna go into that. Honestly though I was failing in school all my life till Gr 11~12 and I spent a sh** load of time playing games, it was my way of running away from life, the one thing I was proud of when I was pretty sh** at everything else. So it's not like I did this all casually.
Anyway during second semester of gr 12, I decided to casually play HoN. I already decided that I would quit all games after during Uni (this was completely possible for me at the time as I didn't touch a single game during gr 11-first semester of 12 when I promised to be top in my class to my best friend at the time). I started playing with my friends from Dragonica, things got bad and at one point I stopped playing with them. The only person I played with from the past was TheFuriousNoob (a 4.5~5k player in DotA). After another month I even stopped playing with him (hes my best friend). I simply played at a higher level and didn't really want to play with them anymore T_T. I was rank 2 on the ladder (US/Euro combined) and started playing for team DWi. I would say DWi was top 2-4 teams at the time (a truly dark sh** time though) and I would say I was top 2 mids and definitely the best laner in NA. I played 1on1s 2 hours a day though, my god. I would play 2 hours of 1on1s on weekdays (Mostly against Slickz (austrilia player) and would be teaching Nientonsoh from LoL) and 32923921 real games on the weekend. Anyway this was all while I was maintaining a 95 average (98 if english would fu** off) in highschool, so your bro can't use that excuse anymore. I played HoN all the way till the end of August. During this time FNATIC HoN was formed and we were their first opening match. N0tail was rank 1 (he overtook me I was rank 1 FU****) on the ladder. N0tail did some stup** bottle crow shit against me mid and I got rap***. We got 2-0ed with a 30k gold lead and that was my last HoN game.
Anyway I guess I'll mention SC2 as well since someone else did. But during the summer break after first year of Uni I played SC2. I was hoping that I would place gold (3k mmr) after my 5 calibration matches but I got diamond (the highest possible calibration) I was then upgraded to masters on the same day (5k mmr~). I had 0 SC1 experience and I was pretty sh** at WC3.
So I got a boost in EGO from being good at SC2 without much time (mostly my ego was boosted from dragonica though), and after watching some Jaedong vs Flash SC1 finals 3 times in a row I decided to become a professional gamer (well it was more complicated than this I thought about it a lot as I was emo in Uni). During second semester of 2nd year Engineering Science (the hardest Engineering program in CA), my marks dropped from mid 80s to getting 65~75 average. This is because I started playing and researching on DotA. What I mean by that is I played DotA 1 (because I had no key and no connections) only during the weekends. And on the weekdays I would watch TPL season 1 or Defense casted by Luminous/Purge/ and Tob1 xD. During this time I was rank 1 that stupid DotA Tier 2 league thing on DotA 1 and was actually struggling quite hard to get anything above 15 on DotAlicious Tier 3 Europe Server. Anyway School ended after May and the true struggle began but I won't go into that since I was full time playing and I already quit school at that point.
Anyway its acutally getting really late I don't even know where I'm going with this anymore. I can't say I know your brother's life, personality, or ability to the extent where I could point out what he needs to do in life. However, I don't need that sh**, I don't need exact information on him. Because the vague information you have provided is enough for me to say that your brother has a 0% chance of making it pro. I don't give a fu** if hes only 16 and hes still young, I don't give a fu** if hes still in school, and he can't play full time. Saying that you'll go pro when your 3k MMR whether your in school or not is underestimating the HELL that is pro gaming. He will never become good enough no matter how hard he tries and he should just stop now. Pro gaming is not for him.

Like u also lack experience tbh, like someone else said u need to be top 1% to even have a chance of living off dota, you got like below 2000 games in dota, where players like RTZ hover around idk 20.000? or much more, with over 15k hours invested or more. You really need to think about dota all day, breathe dota, become dota, drop everything else and just focus on grinding, it can get depressing in the long run, especially if u don't see any progress. You're still 16 man, take it slow. In REAL pro matches with money on the line eveyr single mistake will be punished, and u will NEED a good team with prober coordination to even have a chance vs a Tier 1 team. In real games your indivudal skill means 0 if you don't have a team that can play around u / u can play around.

But hey, if you wonna go through open qual at TI and need a mid i'm your man, so hit me up if you want haha. I don't take pubs as seriusly as i once did so don't let my match history deter u if that makes any difference rofl xddd. Regardless good luck fam! Ik drop ud af skolen før du er 9k god.

@kitrak it's life advice and you ont need to be pro to answer to it like i would ask bulldog how to live my life lul

Also anything he lacks he could learn some of you talk like a person is born with great map awareness in dota. Even communication, teamwork abd everything else could be learned. The problem is 90% of ppl or more just give up on life abd just eat and piss and sleep and they dont reach their goals so they think nobody else can do it either

                                        really sad truth.
Btw kitrak i just read 1 post where u actually gave insight and it was like months ago or a year maybe either than that u just cruh lower skilled players. Job well done sir

We have about the same mmr but i played way more than you according to Dotabuff (unless you have a main/smurf), i do watch some tournaments and spectate pro players play, which i feel i lack a lot of skill compared to them. Idk how are you having so much confidence about your skill, no offense but i really feel that mmr plays a big part in skills differences. (Yes i disagree that mmr is just a number) I've been fluctuating around high 4k - low 5k and i cant seem to get out of the 5kmmr wall. But i do hope you consider your choices of dropping out of school and stuff like that. If you're good, even after you finish your studies, you can still try to go pro, heck, why dont you make going pro as a dota player for your motivation in studying? All the best dude, i wish you well sincerely.

there's a difference between playing normally and ruining every other game and buying dagons for luls

Reading the comments I will not quit school unless it gets real serious. I now reached 5k and planning to get 6k before the holidays start.

                                                        party with TAI LUNG

I do currently have a team, ofc not top tier, but not bad at all, we won tier 7 battlecup and beaten multiple 6-7k stacks. Our communication and stuff is really great, so I'll stick with the team to become a better teamplayer but I'll also focus on climbing a lot solo mmr to improve myself as an individual.
