It takes lots of practice. I struggled at early points of learning the hero, but the moment I started watching streams of pro players playing Invo. I think I grasped better concepts of playing the hero. Idk. I find him fun and not so hard to play. But we have the same problem regarding micromanagement. Even though how hard I try to practice meepo. I don't know how to control the other meepos. Dont get me wrong i know his farming pattern. Its just that I am having trouble once clashes/wars start.
PS. If you're using Legacy Key. I suggest going QWER. Since you only need to click DF for the Invoked skills.
I think practicing the hero in an empty lobby certainly helps. Memorizing you can just do easily with some practice. The hard part about the hero is not the pressing of the keys. The hero itself is easy to learn but really hard to play to its full potential just because of the amount of spells you could use in any situation!
Invoker can provide a lot
More damage and control in the right hands which makes the hero really scary. That's the difficulty and beauty of mastery for this hero.
tbh the reason he is 2nd most picked is because of the atheistic appreciation he offers when combos are hit right. The dream of the "wombo-combo" intrigues many to try out the hero. Honestly he is near close to impossible to master as you can do so many things wrong due to the amount of options he can give in team fight situations. About 500 games would make you as good as a 5k player on the guy.
realistically hes not that hard but when you compare him to the number of heroes that you can get in an all random and even if you have never played the hero before you can play it decently then he is incredibly difficult.
I don't like pushing a bunch of buttons to make combos which is why I'd rather play heroes like viper and sniper, but I think a lot of pubbers just run the exort meatball invoker combo and beyond that they are kind of helpless. And I think you only need to inovoke one spell to do cus isn't it euls into meatball, sunstrike, deafening blast?
even just that there is no way I could get my fingers to move that fast during a game without tripping over myself.
not rly if i randomed him id just go smth like colsnap alacrity in lane and then get midas bots with forge alacrity + ghostwalk rdy to be invoked tped to lanes and just pushed them all game long...
oh wait!
i got him in lp once so i just baught blink and dagon5, sunstrike people in fights and secure kill with dagon xd
u just need to struggle with him for a dozen of games or so in order to learn not to panic and mash buttons whily hysterically screaming
idk i think hes ez but not good to boost mmr
also tornado can fuck up many things and make u lose game
You don't need to know all the variation of combos to do well on the hero. Often times just a setup into sunstrike is good. And casting important tornado emps are good. The hero is just stronger overall late game so it is more forgiving in recent times.
The hardest thing you'll ever do in your life, especially since you had to make a thread about invoker, just give up kid! Ya can't do it! You ain't good enough! Lifes not about how hard you can hit, it's about how much you can get hit and keep moving! KEEP MOVING FORWARD. GIVE IT UP KID! INVOKERS TOO HARD!
It's not hard to learn the spells and how they work. The hard thing about him is knowing how to combo everything. Know more then Tornado/Euls --> Sunstrike/EMP --> Meatball --> Cold snap/Def. blast. There are so many things to do with him. Hes great at pushing out lanes with BoTs alacrity and forged spirits. His weak point is his early game, so practice laning with the hero and the timings of your spells. Then watch some pro games of some good invoker players. Look especially at the laning stage and their decisionmaking on which spells to use in what situation.
It's easy to memorize the spells and different combos. It's hard to efficiently make use of his spells (when to/not to use them). The problem with most low skill invokers (like myself) tend to spend too much mana at early levels or overkilling it. Good positioning is also very important on the hero which most low skill players lack to understand. The most disgusting 1k-2k invoker plays are when they try to kill you at lvl 2 with cold snap + sunstrike and his only item his gloves of haste (because he started with it). NEVER DO THIS PLEASE unless you're my enemy then its fine
^Spending mana in early game is actually good if you dont spam something like lvl 1 wex tornado... Alacrity, cold snap, forged spirits, sunstrike and even meteor (not always good though). In early game is worth it if you use it right. Just bring claritys and raindrops to lane and ur fine. And yeah, positioning with invoker is super important. Therefore i recommend blink dagger and/or force staff.
hes good early mid late proble is hes ganked alot
combos u should must know ( with agh)
tornado emp wall
tornado emp meatball blast/snap
tornado sunstrike blast
ala blink cold snap forge
blink sunstrike blast tornado
You should probably learn to combo his spells in demo mode, and learn console commands so you can expand your experience. (like disabling fog, giving enemies Heart or tarssque, ect)
Get travels, Euls, Force staff, Sheep stick, Shivas, and Blink as well.
You can practice mechancal skill with those items + your spells.
Remember slow and accurate inputs are more consistent than fast sloppy inputs when doing combos, you're in no rush to learn Invoker, so get them down to memory, then you'll be doing them in actual real time matches in no time.
^Agreed. Invoker's spells have lengthy cooldowns perhaps with the exception of Tornado at level 25. You need to determine what you aim to do when you enter a teamfight. Do you want to cripple their carries early? Or focus your attention on the supports? Target that offlaner first because the longer he is in a fight he gets more dangerous?
You need to have a plan of sorts. You can't blindly throw your skills at the first two heroes you see grouped together. Although it might be effective, better safe than sorry.
The problem with invoker is that: There's always better play to make, than what you just did (in a match)

Given my piss poor button pressing and memorisation, I've always strayed away from the hero. Same reason I avoid playing Meepo, Arc Warden, Enchantress, and the likes. I always thought a lot of people are like me.
Yet for some reason, EVERYONE seems to play him- he's the game's second most played hero for crying out loud. Am I missing something here? Is Invoker actually ... (gasp) ... not THAT hard to play properly?
I mean when you think about it, the hero has a LOT going on that would dissuade the average player; 10 active buttons from skills and items, Sun Strike predictions, mana pool problems, COMBOS, combos, combos, getting ganked early, etc.
