never chase your enemies to their shrines unless you know they have used it (lane shrines esp. because base shrines have about 5 shrines)

You can watch the Kiev Majors to see the common items/heroes for particular lanes but there's gonna be a patch rolling out soon so I'd say it's better to wait for that. Then we can start talking meta. In the meantime, perhaps refer to Dotabuff stats
