I get a minimum 10 commends every time I look for recent 20 matches. I enjoy it because it means I'm allowed to abandon matches that tilt me without penalty.

they increase your BS score, thats about it.
Some people suscribe to BS = better team mates.

i think i have 396, used to get them when I was a normal skill bracket pudge god. now I just suck at every hero.

Low mmr more cmnds, this is true always i play higher in mmr ppl never appreciate what other did or do.Worst are these who think they can 1v9 arogant af.
What JD said. If u have a shitton of commends it's likely u r in low mmr. It's the monkeys patting each other on the back phenomenon
My commends are my only salvation.Some guy comes up to me and says im 3k mmr so i say i have 900 commends to make myself feel better

I've yet to see higher in my games, however it seems pretty 'meh' in comparison to what it could be, as i'm pretty good at yelling at people.
Also, do they do anything?
