Depends on whether you could have taken it out to begin with. The shrine being there is irrelevant. If u still decide to fight around an active shrine that's the fault for choosing to fight there and not that shrines weren't destroyed.
the biggest factor is how likely they are to actually use the tp spots
against ok players its game losing, against retards its still pretty game losing and you miss out on some sweet gold
if you show up as 3-5 hitting the shrine its rare for bads to fight back, free money
The regen isn't that big of a deal late game, just don't take fights there, and even without the shrine it's usually going uphill if you fight there. But eliminating them so they can't tp there can be a big deal, really limit their ability to react to rosh or farm jungle as well.
I was in similiar position before. As radiant, managed to take top raxes then back off when their team is respawned. Managed to sneak off 2 obs on their base next to their mid and bot tower so we have vision for next push. When we push mid, they suddenly appeared from bot shrine and wiped us
When i see replay, they were smoked from fountain, tp bot then flank us from there
From that experience, I always look for securing shrine if we cant end the game right away. The tp target is huge factor
I hardly get anyone picking techies even 3K matches. This was a 3rd pick lycan, destroyed their towers, racks, t3's, throne, entire base pretty much all by myself. You don't even have to be a very high skilled player to do this. All you need is decent amount of brains and rational decision making sense. https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3309176856
the smoke tps are scary. you're trying to take highground while the entire enemy team sneaks up from behind you with the easiest initiation of their lives. Game could turn right then and there.

Just played a game which was really closely contested. After we got a good Roshan fight, wiping them in exchange for our Viper, we went mid and took melee rax. The other tier 2 towers weren't down, and the enemy team were starting to come back, so we decided to back off. I pinged to take out the outer shrines while we still had time, but they insisted on full retreat. So we left the outer shrines there, the rest of the game. They were able to sneak a Roshan, then 3 of my teammates decided to fight at Dire secret shop against Aegis and functioning shrine. Got mega'd and lost from there. Match referred to(i played like shit here btw): https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3308177413
Would you say that not taking the outer shrines after knocking down tier 3/one set of rax is 100% of the time a game-losing move? Given of course circumstance; I know if you can throne it, throne it, don't back off for shrines. But in a situation similar to my game earlier? They retain so much map control, a TP spot, a source of regen outside base, etc.
