mom said it's my turn to ...

So I've been reinstalling RSRBR(Richard Burns Rally, an old game/abandonware that's only keeping itself alive in the form of mods) again on a different computer since the last unit I played it on had a damaged hard drive. Checking a Youtube video for reference on how to install again, I found a comment below describing how the program works.

RSRBR is a mixed bag with some really nice features hindered by a pretty ancient NGP version and a suboptimal data management strategy. It basically unpacks archives, overwrites data, then after running the stage it overwrites everything back again. Not something I would like to have happening on my SSD. Also, you can neither update the old

does this mean the game would not be forgiving to my hard drive, and probably caused the breakdown on my last computer? please excuse me for being unfamiliar with inner workings of computers.

how about trying it in a sandbox
(also you got my attention since ive installed this game like 2 months ago)

wouldn't trying it in a sandbox not be any different from installing on the main computer since it still uses the same hard drive? I'm having doubts about playing the game again on this different computer because I might wreck it like the last one if how I understood this statement is correct, but I also want to keep playing

        I'm torn right now

          it should be fine

if you're that scared, why dont you just save your data
you can just reinstall windows and put all back in if you're that scared

nah, i meant that the hard drive itself just got to a point where it probably sustained physical damage from the game(if that's even possible), and not just mere data corruption where you could just simply reinstall the whole thing.

            arin

that is not possible as far as i know

so how do you interpret the comment that I quoted above?

                arin

ssd's have a certain limit of how many times you can write/delete data on them, guess he meant that
or it could be interpreted as littering the drive with useless data

anw just put it on hdd and you'll be fine
