Popularity is bound to exist because of his concept, that is not related to his power level, just like how pa, sniper and invoker are always popular
He had a good winrate, but he isn't much of a pub terror
I think he is on a nice spot, even on the weaker side on the competitive scene
if ur a hero who can be picked in half of dota games and still maintain an astounding winrate like that ur fucking broken or smths god damn wrong
a 53% winrate on a hero who is picked that fucking often means an innate problem with the hero as opposed to shit like low winrate heroes situationally picked by good players being strong. this is an example of a hero who can be picked by anyone against anything and still win.

I'm kind of conflicted. Playing against Pudge I have a 55% winrate so win more often than not. While having a Pudge on my team I have a 60% winrate, so I generally really like having a Pudge on my team. And since I win more overall playing against him I don't have that "we lost" feeling at the beginning of the game feeling like you do when you went up against one of the cancer heroes of patches past. On the other hand it does make the game less enjoyable to play when you have to be constantly moving around the place in order to make it difficult for the Pudge to hook you. I also tend to be a hook magnet in team fights as the Pudge always always goes for me.
I haven't been able to play any Dota over the holidays though since I've been working out a the gym and trying to finish Dragon Age 3 instead so I haven't played a heap of games with/against him recently.
Currently I'm under the impression that you can't fix pudge without destroying why he is picked (Hook) because Hook is the only ability in the game that requires no threat of using it and guantees a kill to occur (typically).
Though I may be wrong, was there any patch in which pudge had a >50% Winrate ?
Because Regardless of the changes done the issue has always been what Hook is.

Yeah, Pudge is both popular and winnable at every skill level. Rot 30% slow at level 1, eventually going back to 50% at level 4. Now, we're talking.
why would you want to lower the pick rate of THE showcase hero of your game?
imo hes not very strong btw. get a medallion, put it on him, he dies really quick no matter how much hp he has
Pudge is definitely the most satisfying hero for me, how can someone say pudge is boring? Level hook mana is 140 for all levels now, I don't think that's a buff anyway, and hook speed got reduced in the past patches, there's no need to nerf a hero over pick rate!

Should Pudge be nerfed to bring his pick rate down? The hero has an almost 50% pick rate over several weeks. That seems insane and to be honest makes the game stale when you have the same hero in literally every game. And who wants to waste a ban on a Pudge. Just a thought.
