background mmr still exists in games, and as for how Dotabuff itself works i'm fairly just works based on who is winning, who is playing who, and classifies people on that. so yeah, you're still placed in the appropriate group

General DiscussionSkill Tier System and South African servers
Regarding the "Normal, High and Very High" skill groups, how do they correlate to South African servers? More specifically, I know they are based on your MMR rating. But in SA, we have no ranked servers. Are we still placed within those groups, or will we remain in normal since our MMR is essentially at zero since we have no rating. Please can a DOTABUFF wizard tell me how this works.
