My main suggestion is to pick a support that YOU really play well with. That being said, supports that can contribute to a fight and push out waves are a great addition to any team.
My top 5 picks:
1. CM - She's my fav, she can gank, push out waves and does well in a team fight. The Aura is a great bonus to everyone as well. She's slow as hell, so keep that in mind.
2. Witch Doctor - While not being able to push out lanes well like CM, he does well in team fights. Just be sure to turn your voodoo restoration on(which I tend to forget) and don't be too shy with your ult.
3. Jakiro - He, like CM can push out waves and can contribute to fights overall. Unlike CM, he is a little inconsistent at times since Ice Path and Macropyre is kinda like a skill shot.
4. Ogre Magi - Great laner, since he's super tanky and can bully other supports and people during laning. All his skills are super useful specially blood lust which your cores will love.
5. WW - You need to get a little used to WW, specially since Winters Curse and decide if you win or lose a fights(its a lot of pressure, which is why I dont pick her sometimes, lol) Cold embrace catches people off-guard sometimes, I did an oopsy where I Cold Embrace someone and then they got hooked by pudge :P Her skills are all great, but they are big deciding factors in fights.
lastly, just enjoy the hero. Dota is a game and you need to enjoy the hero to be good at it.
