get your support to camp mid too. mid wards need to be in good places or they wont even need smoke.
getting your supports to help is the biggest thing.
depends, you still have to keep in mind that enemy mid will get underleveled and the lane will most probably end up under your tower. also it's visible to everyone that the two supports are on mid and not anywhere else trying to gank someone so the other two lanes are free
depends on what's more important, whether you getting your core items or giving farm to your carry
yes i mean its the mind games. when situations like this i always play so passively safe that i will have significantly less lasthits knowing some cheesy strats like od kunkka +1 is always a guaranteed kill even if backups tp in. or should i take the risks to lasthit and hope everything goes well? space created is always accepted though

Anyway, the main thing is don't feed. If you can't see them, they are either stealing experience from mid over the hill, or sitting out of exp range. Both
are fine by you. Meanwhile, your team can farm with minimal pressure.
if you hold out and don't feed, you win.
Alternatively, if you have people who aren't drop kicks, you can bring the support over to contest the lane. This won't happen in pubs though, 8/10.
Edit: I also find that if you play safe, bad players will start trying to force something since they have invested a lot of resources into hopefully killing you. On Occassion this can even convert into a kill in your favour. This is auto win.
^fyi my main 5.1k and primarily playing offlane and 4 pos. just transitioning to middle bc its the best way to smurf is with invoker imo
but if you know that your other cores are complete retards and supports do nothing then well, tough luck

even if you bought wards its still hard to farm knowing they can smoke or wrap around to kill you and jungle not even safe to transition to even if t1 still up.
