Because I can learn russian while playing it and my russian is still extremely bad, so that's why I'm playing.

Obviously I'm trying to have fun, sometimes it's not fun at all, but you're still playing it. Don't tell me you're having fun 24/7 in Dota.
It kills my time. If it wasn't for dota 2, I would have died of boredom and and of writing stories and poems the whole day lol.
^ I dont have fun 24/7 sure. But I sure do 99% of the time. Play with friends more itll be more fun. Also randoming every game helps too.
the multiplayer makes every game different and exciting. I'd probably be way less stressed than playing regular games like dragon age and witcher 3 which are actually rewarding when you finish the storyling. But dota that feeling of winning is addictive.
Looking to achieve something, then wishing you had never started in the first place cause you can't possibly achieve it.
People who say they are looking to improve are dumb. No company goes let's succeed, they first sit down and define what success looks like and what are the performance indicators to keep them on the road to success.
What is improvement to most people is just wanting higher rating.
Depends on your outlook whether you have fun. I took a long break because I was not enjoying it at all. When I came back I still was not having fun, so I realised it wasn't the game that needed to change, it was me. My last couple games have been enjoyable, even though I can't play so much recently with exams coming up.
@Dire Wolf I play dota 2 cause i Finished Dragon Age Origins over 55 times for the past 6 years and you know ... Trying to get over that game :p

I enjoy learning and becoming better. I have always have been interested in competitive gaming. Despite broken MMR system, it's still fun to go up a ladder.
Idk. I wish I never started playing, but do you know that feeling the first time you eat chocolate as a kid in your entire life so far and you keep looking for it despite it giving you the stomachaches and toothaches and shit? I really can't put it well this way. but either way, it's sad.
1. I like the way the heroes look. Most of them are just the right mixture of threatening and lovable.
2. It's divided into chunks of around 40 minutes each - forces me to stop for a while, and makes me less likely to binge.
3. When it goes well, I get warm and fuzzy feelings inside.
4. When it doesn't, my faith and patience are tested and trained. Maybe someday it will make me a better person.
I love how much teamwork is required in order to pull off a win.
Seeing how different hero/item compositions can work together (When you nail an awesome wombo-combo and the enemy team melts *_*)

Rewarding gameplay, at the same time punishing gameplay.
@Dawn yup, good game, but I bought inquisition last spring when it first went 50% off so $30 and I have literally played it 5 hours. In over a year's time. Pretty sad. A friend of mine also gave me witcher 3 for free. I installed it that's it. I just subscribed to humble monthly to get mad max for $10. Haven't turned it on yet lol.
The last two non dota games I finished were dead space 3 and tomb raider like a year ago. Oh and defense grid 2 when I was middle of moving and without internet.
Those games are not more fun than a dota winning streak but they stress you out way less, are more relaxing and rewarding that way and interfere less with the rest of your life.

Despite the "broken" mmr system, toxic community and not so friendly environment.
Usually OP should answer with his reasons for playing this game, but I can't really say for sure.
One of the reasons is probably hunger for improvment and I just love the game, but sometimes I really wish I never started to play this game, tbh.
